How to Boil a Christian?

The impact of contemporary culture on Christian living.
In the Bible, Jesus says: “He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet; otherwise he is completely clean. And you are clean – but not all of you.” – John 3:10
He makes a distinction between a bath – representing salvation – and regular washing of feet from the dust of daily life and culture. A culture that sticks to “one’s feet” mostly unnoticed.
The reason why the New Testament is filled with appeals for the renewing of your mind and putting on an armour, is because God knows that when concepts are introduced to you incrementally but consistently, what seemed like a clear black-and-white issue yesterday, suddenly seems all blurry today.
Your mandate to be “the salt of the earth” – Matthew 5:13 – is constantly threatened. And just like salt, which does not lose its taste overnight, your charge is to remember to keep your mind fresh, to reset your Christian values and viewpoint on a daily basis by reading the Bible.
The title of my book references the concept of boiling a frog alive, which is possible when done very slowly. It doesn’t end well for the frog, and if we are not careful, it won’t end well for us either.
In the book, I unpack the main cultural influences to which Christianity has opened its gates. I sift each influence through a scriptural filter to illuminate how drastically the mainstream Christian view has changed over the last 10 years.
