Musings about the spaces between design

In the movie “Pig”, Nicolas Cage’s character says, “We don’t get many things to truly care about in this life”. For me, that thing is design.

Maybe I could have a chapter in there called “Why did I write this book?”

The way it satisfies my curiosity and how it soothes my soul. Sometimes, it makes me cry with pure joy.

I can’t stop revelling in it. Hence, I see it everywhere. I examine its purpose, process and materials. Most importantly, I discover its story.

Design inspires me. It’s this inspiration that I want to share with you – the designer and artist.

I want to remind you, and keep reminding you what design is truly about.

I want to free you of “shoulds”, “politics”, “market expectations” and “trends”.

I want you to rediscover the pure joy of making your craft.
